How to play Probably Stolen now

The Demo is free, and anyone can download it.

Worth knowing: pre-release builds change. The Demo already differs from the earlier Playtest, and prices, recipes and item behaviour can all be patched again before launch, so check the date on any guide you follow, this site included.

How the date was announced

The 2026-09-09 Playtest Ledger announcement summed up the Playtest feedback and said the release date would be revealed during the tinyBuild Connect livestream on 2026-09-14, alongside a new Demo. On that day the developer posted UPDATE 049 on Steam: “Probably Stolen has an official release date. It is launching on October 28th!” The same post says a new Demo build had just been released, “with a ton of changes since the open playtest.”

The post itself does not state the year; the Steam store page does, listing Oct 28, 2026. It also does not say whether the Playtest stays open now that the Demo is out.

The UPDATE 049 patch notes released with it add a new early-game machine and matching item, two starting perks designed for challenge runs, a Toolbox with an Equip mode for tools, upgrades for the Bottle Printer and the Vacuum Robot, multi-item selection and inventory sorting. Earlier, the 2026-08-28 announcement had promised The Water Merchant as a new starting scenario and fixes for missing Chinese, German, Japanese and Russian translations; the UPDATE 049 notes do not mention translations.

How much will Probably Stolen cost?
